'Good Watchman Uncle'

 Hi all!

Ha.. ha.. You all might be wondering what this 'Good Watchman Uncle' means. Let me tell you.

So, this 'Watchman Uncle' is one of the watchmen who guards my children's school. He guards the school either in the day or during the night according to his shifts. He is tall and may be around 45 years of age.

I was so impressed the first time I saw him as he was so happily doing his job. Usually I see people grumping about their jobs, how they don't get paid what they deserve, how they don't get promotions and someone else grabs it, etc.

As days passed by, I realized how kindly he behaves with every parent who comes to drop his/her kids. Believe me, it's not easy and one cannot fake it all the time. In the morning, he greets every child and it's parent with a smile and asks them whether they had breakfast or not. Simultaneously, he manages the parking area where teachers and students park their vehicles.

Another thing I noticed about this man is that he doesn't lose his patience even when some of the parents disrespect him. In turn, he tells them please don't get tensed, everything will be okay, have a seat, do you need water, keep your bag here, sit and relax for some time. I mean, how many of us do this on a daily basis?

This security guard is setting an example for many that no small job is small. What matters is how you behave and interact with people, how empathetic you are towards others and how well you can manage your anger. Most importantly, do you respect your job and work sincerely even when no one is watching you.

Now let us come to the title. Once, my son fell ill at school with an upset stomach. This same watchman (still I don't know his name for no reason) called me from his mobile and told me to pick up my son from the school. Then the same night, I thought of saving his number as it will be useful in case of emergencies. But I didn't know his name. So, I saved as 'Valle Watchman Uncle' in my mobile. In Kannada language, 'Valle' means 'Good'. My kids still make fun about that. 😂

I just want to say that if we are on the right path, then we shouldn't be ashamed of our jobs, however small it may look like to others.

Please tell me in the comments about how you felt about this blog.

See you soon.

Bye!

Love,

Usha.
